About Us
We are building and growing a better future.

The Funny Farm was started in 2017 when we answered a Facebook post about turkey poults for sale. We bought two and a week later went back and bought five more!

The garden that year was four raised garden beds. The next two years we continued raising heritage breed turkeys and having a small garden, adding planter boxes with herbs. We also added four goats and chickens to the farm.

The beginning of 2020 brought our first steer for our own freezer and the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic pushed us to make major changes which included a bigger chicken flock for a small egg business, dorper sheep and KuneKune pigs. We also expanded the garden with several varieties of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, pumpkins, beans.

The time came for our steer to be harvested and processed and we were shocked to learn the appointments were six months out. We did a little asking around and found everyone was struggling to find to get their animals harvested and processed.

We decided in 2022 to open a butcher shop on the farm, and we have been very busy with pigs, lambs and poultry.  We had no idea how much we would grow in five years, but we have come a long way and look forward to what 2023 will bring.
